Within a short time MEC has grown to an internationally recognized institution. That world famous people lend their assistance to our training sessions is not without grounds. That a dyed-in-the-wool man such as Botwinnik should be dumbfounded when he heard about our library and activities is not without grounds either.

To preserve our institution we mainly depend on contributions from the business community (sponsors and donating companies), private benefactors and the Amsterdam local authorities. The organized chess world, too, does its bit.
